According to Afroyim v. Rusk (1967), the president has no legal authority to revoke citizenship from someone born in the United States. Yet Trump continues to make threats that defy the rule of law, often with impunity. Our constitutional checks and balances are designed to restrain presidential overreach—but when Congress abdicates its responsibility, that system falters.

In Dictator-led countries like Russia, Hungary, and Venezuela, the Tyrant in charge often eliminates political threats. Apparently, that is how our government in the USA is considering acting also. I guess this new candidate for Mayor of New York city is so popular (I don’t know anything about him), that this threatens Trump’s administration and they are considering ways to revoke his citizenship and deport him to eliminate a potential political rival.

On March 20th, 2025, in rants spanning less than 10 minutes, Trump made several statements that raise legitimate concerns about his understanding of constitutional checks and balances of this Great Country, the U.S. of A. First, his statement, “These Judges want to assume the Powers of the Presidency, without having to attain 80 Million Votes” illustrates his desire to convert the USA from a government of laws and a balance of powers into a dictatorship where every whim or desire of a single person should be obeyed without consideration of laws, rules, harms done to others, or any negative consequences.
